Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at Siyanco, I was drawn to this establishment not only for its proximity to the historical wonders of Polonnaruwa but also for the culinary offerings. The hotel features a pleasant shared lounge where breakfast is served. While the breakfast was relatively straightforward - consisting mainly of slightly toasted bread, accompanied by small portions of pineapple and banana - it offered a chance to start my day in a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel's restaurant exudes a comforting ambiance, ideal for unwinding after a day of exploring ancient ruins. On one occasion, I opted for the local rice and curry, which was expertly prepared and sat comfortably within the cultural fabric of Sri Lanka's renowned culinary landscape. Although I did not indulge in the pool due to time constraints, it appeared inviting, providing a perfect backdrop for enjoying refreshments. The ability to rent bicycles for exploring the area, including a well-organized taxi service, further enhanced my overall experience. In summary, while Siyanco may not provide the most opulent breakfast, its strategic location and the charm of its dining experience are worth considering for those exploring the rich history surrounding Polonnaruwa.
